PPGL Steel Coil

2025.04.23

PPGL (Pre-Painted Galvalume) refers to color-coated steel sheets that undergo factory pre-painting before forming. Also known as pre-coated or coil-coated steel, these products typically use hot-dip galvanized steel sheets as their base material.

The term GL traditionally stands for Galvalume steel (55% Al-Zn alloy coated steel). Unlike batch-dipped products, modern GL specifically denotes continuously hot-dipped Al-Zn alloy coated steel sheets. PPGL represents the pre-painted version of these Galvalume products.

The hot-dip coating process can also produce steel sheets with various metallic coatings including:

  • Pure aluminum coatings
  • Zinc-aluminum alloy coatings
  • Zinc-iron alloy coatings
  • Zinc-aluminum-magnesium alloy coatings

While GL is sometimes broadly used to describe different hot-dip metal-coated steels, it technically refers specifically to galvanized products. Similarly, PPGL may occasionally serve as a general term for various pre-painted metal-coated steels, but most accurately describes pre-painted Al-Zn alloy coated steel.

All these metallic-coated steel variants can undergo factory pre-painting to become PPGL products, combining corrosion resistance with decorative finishes.

Zhencang Steel products have been exported to many countries around the world, including Nigeria, Kenya, Turkey, Spain, Poland, etc. For more details, please contact us!
