At the 2023 Ship Steel Supply and Demand Symposium held on September 7, 23 key shipbuilding enterprises and 10 key shipbuilding steel producers from across the country completed the signing of 23 purchase agreements.
Data show that in the first half of 2023, China ranked first in the world in terms of shipbuilding completion, new orders and handheld orders. Benefiting from the rapid development of the shipbuilding industry, the demand for shipbuilding steel also maintained steady growth. In the first half of 2023, China's steel for shipbuilding exceeded 7 million tons, and is expected to exceed 13 million tons for the whole year. At the same time, with the increase in the number of orders for high value-added ship types, the supply capacity of high-end steel for shipbuilding has also been continuously improved.
